How do I secure overnight accommodations?

Admission to the House for accommodations requires a referral by staff from the treating medical facility. This staff person is often a social worker, pastoral chaplain, or nurse coordinator. They must call the AHHH at 404-377-6333 to refer you to the House. You must live at least 40 miles outside of Atlanta community.

Can I reserve a room?

Not really, but once we have your referral we place your accommodations in one of our rooms. Plans often change unexpectedly, so rooms are provided on a first-come, first-served basis. This enables us to serve more people. If you are not coming and need to cancel, you should call us because we could provide lodging to another guest.

How long can I stay?

We do not have a limit to stay with us. As long as your patient is in medical care at a medical facility and you pay your fee, you can stay with us. We will check on you and your patient occasionally to see how long you may be staying with us so that we can accommodate as many guests as possible.

Who’s on staff?

We have three resident managers on duty from 3-10 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9-9 on Saturday and Sunday. Resident managers help you check in and settle down for the evening. They prepare a meal for the guests and close the house for the night.

What are the rooms like?

We have some rooms that are private and some shared. We have 9 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. All beds are twin sized; linens and towels are provided.

What about meals?

We serve a home cooked meal every night at 7:00 for the House. We ask if you eat with us that you drop a donation in our food basket. We have a guest refrigerator that you can use for your own food, however no cooking by a guest is allowed. No food or drinks (except for water) is allowed in guest bedrooms.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Monday-Friday, check in begins after 3:00 when a resident manager comes on duty. Saturday-Sunday, check in is after noon.

What does it cost per night and how do I pay?

Overnight guests, including children over the age of one are asked to pay $15.00 per night, per guest to help cover the operating expenses of AHHH. This small amount does not come close to covering the cost of our operations, which is $44 per guest, per day. We accept cash, check, credit and debit cards for payment. If you stay for more than a week, you must pay every Friday. If you stay less than a week you may pay at the end of your stay.

Can I stay at the house during the day?

We are open on a limited basis and you will need permission to stay in the house during the day.

Do you have Wi-Fi and computers?

You are welcome to plug in your laptop at the House. We have a wireless network and a computer at the guest desk to use.

What does the AHHH expect of our guests?

• Guests should be quiet and courteous to others and respectful of managers, staff and volunteers.
• Guests should clean up after themselves and keep their area clean. We don’t have a cleaning service.
• Guests/referrers should communicate with the staff to let them know when they are checking in or checking out.
• Guests who misuse our property, use foul language, cause domestic disturbances, take or steal things, or disrupt the emotional well being of the House will be asked to leave.

Are contributions to the AHHH tax-deductible?

Yes! We are a 501(c)3 institution and all donations are gratefully accepted and tax-deductible to the amount allowed by law.
